Heel Guide quiz

What could be causing your heel pain?

Answer four quick questions to explore a possible cause, find the relevant guide, and see when to get help. It takes about a minute, and nothing you pick leaves your browser.

This is not a diagnosis. The quiz suggests a guide that may fit your answers. It cannot rule out every cause of heel pain. Two problems can happen at once, and an examination beats any quiz. If you think you have an emergency, call 911.

How the quiz works

It starts with warning signs, then asks where exactly it hurts, when it is worst, and whether anything else needs attention. Location and timing help narrow the possibilities. Pain under the heel that is worst with your first steps can fit plantar fasciitis, but that pattern alone is not a diagnosis. A deep ache that builds with activity, burning or tingling, or pain at rest or at night deserves a different assessment.
